Fill up the page, run off the page, zoom in (on what's important), overlap and if you decide to color make sure it is neat.
Week 1: This week I want you to reflect on the various art movements that we have been studing. Pick your two favorite styles and create a sketch centered around them.
Week 2: This week you will be creating two sketches. The first needs to focus on variety and repetition. Your second sketch needs to focus on the principle of emphasis. Feel free to google variety, repetition and emphasis.
Week 3: This week I want you to create a composition in which you take your primaries and create secondary colors within the imagery. Only use your 3 primaries of red, yellow and blue, but I should see a total of 6 colors from your blending.
ALL SKETCHES FOR YOUR SKETCHBOOK NEED TO BE TURNED IN TO MRS. PAYNE ON FRIDAY AUGUST 28th!
Week 4: I want you to design a new kind of tree. This tree could be or do anything you can imagine.
Draw a sketch that shows your understanding of rhythm.
Week 5: Draw a sketch that shows unity.
Create your dream home.
Week 6: No sketches this week, but I need your completed Common Assessment by the end of class on Thursday!
Week 7: Create an original sketch from a small found object. See site for examples
Turn in sketches by FRIDAY!!!
Week 8: This week you will need to be posting your past projects, common assessment and sketches to your blog. Pick your best 3 sketches to post.
Create a sketch that shows gestural drawing.
Week 10: This week you will need to create a sketch that focuses on the human mouth and show 3 different emotions through them.
Week 11: Draw a fruit with a spot light on it. Shade using values to show how values can make things look more three-dimensional.
Week 12: Create a monster! What scary things can it do?
Draw a someones face using quick gesture lines and spend no longer than 4 minutes on this one sketch.
Draw, paint or doodle what visually appeals to you. What kind of art do you like to make? Show me!
SKETCHES ARE DUE AT THE END OF CLASS ON FRIDAY!!!
This week there are NO sketches, but you need to make sure you have the following on your site:
Projects: 4 with a description
Assessment: I should see the assessment, your art and the person's art you compared yours to.
Due to my absence last week your portfolios will be checked this weekend.
Create two sketches, one that shows asymmetrical balance and one that shows symmetrical balance.
Turn in sketchbooks. No sketches this week!
Draw something you would like to be doing right now.
Create a new kind of car.
Create a holiday design for a card!
Design a new ornament.
January 4th- Sketches will be due at the end of the month!
Draw an image focused on texture.
Draw and image showing form.
January 11th-Week 20:
This week I want you to experiment with how you may improve your prints.
What two things or materials can you add to your work to improve the prints you have given me.
FYI: The ink you use on your prints are water soluble if that helps you think of the process you might use to add your mediums to your prints.
January 19th- Week 21:
Design a chair that embodies who you are.
Sketch an object and focus on using emphasis.
January 25th- Week 22
Upload your Common Assessment to your blog by SATURDAY and sketches are due on FRIDAY!!!
Focus on drawing something that shows contrast and make it a little complicated.
Draw something of your choice.
February 1st- Week 23
February 8th- Week 24
Since your project focuses on pattern I want you to draw 2 different drawings each one creating emphasis with the application of a pattern.
February 22nd-Week 25
Draw something with the application of zentagles.
Create a new style of table focusing on a specific type of balance. Write down the type of balance your image shows.
Week 26- No sketches- Sketchbooks due on Friday!
March 7th- Week 27
Create a sketch that shows how you can create depth with space.
Draw a map of your class schedule and the route you have to take.
Week 28- March 14
Draw a simple form such as a cone, sphere, or cube and apply shading to it. Then transform it into something else.
Draw a cup with shading from the blackest black to your whitest white.
Week 29 March 21
Draw two items for your sketches this week and apply two of the shading techniques with pen.
**You need to check and update your blogs! You must have a minimum of 15 sketches, 6 project and both common assessments posted!!!
March 28- Turn in sketchbooks and make sure your blog is updated to the requirements above.
April 25th- Week 30
Draw something that you are studying in great detail and add notes and thoughts about the image.
Show me what your is in your mind or imagination.
May 9th- Week 32
Create a new memorial. Who or what would it be dedicated to and what does it look like?
Draw the person next to you. This may be someone sleeping on the bus if you are on the D.C. trip or someone in the classroom.
*Rememeber these sketches should take you around 20-30 minutes.
